Talisman Maia Mudita Kumbaya

ISWS Fld Ch

.

Dita is the elegantly photogenic Queen of Kumbaya.

We first became interested in adding Silken Windhounds to our family

after we had seen her parents, Gideon and Cinder of Talisman Hounds. Well before

Dita's litter was conceived, we dreamt of an irish marked brindle girl.

Dita was the only irish marked brindle girl in her entire litter, so you

could say she was destined to be part of the family from the day she was born.

under AKC Borzoi Whippet and Greyhound Judge Helen Brettell , Lost Creek Whippets and Borzoi !

From the Judges Commentary regarding Dita at the ISWS Western Regional Specialty :

"I absolutely loved my Best of Breed bitch. One of the things I wanted to see was how they held their shape on the move. Her profile was perfect. She had lovely extension at both ends and seems that she could have gone all day and never wore out. That Best-of-Breed bitch was my top bitch from the very beginning..."

The very first time she stepped into the ring Dita showed us that she was a natural, she

wound up taking a Best Puppy in Breed,

Winners Bitch, Best Puppy in Hound Group, and went all the way to win

Best Puppy in Show under AKC Hound judge Pat Gilbert,

giving her her first five point major towards her NAKC show championship.

She got her second Rarites/NAKC major by going Winners Bitch

in a very large showing of Silkens in the spring of '06,

and finished her Rarities NAKC Championship in December of '06 !

Western Regional Show " Boofest" 07 Reserve Winners Bitch with judge Cyndi Dell of Morgandell Borzoi

In 2007, at the Western Regional Specialty, with an entry of 60 hounds

Dita won Reserve Winners Bitch !

From the Judges Commentary of Dita by Cyndi Dell :

"... a real show girl , she was another I could have taken all the way.

Again the head, eye, forechest and brisket to go with her superb angulation.

She is a beautifully filled out bitch and feels wonderful to the touch.

Her more rounded outline gives her a more dramatic angle at the croup than the winner.

It was a difficult choice between the two. "

In 2010, Kumbaya moved from California to Texas, where, as it happend, the Silken Windhound Nationals 2010 were held. This proved to be a grand Texas welcome for Dita, as she won Best of Breed under judge Eugene Blake on Saturday, and followed up by placing in the top rankings in her lure coursing debute on Monday!

Dita as a Baby

Dita was a standout even as a very young puppy.

She's just barely five weeks old in the picture above, and

already you can see some of the humor, poise, and coquettishness she has as an adult.

Dita and Loki the Swamphounds in the waves in California

Dita, like her best canine friend in the whole world Loki, is

a pure swamphound, and she loves nothing better than a fast romp in the surf with him.

Dita Leaping Ft Funston Beach

Dita started her race career in late 06 at the very first ISWS

regional race specialty, having never practice raced before,

so we weren't sure what she could do

She really amazed us, in her very first race day ever in a large field of

experienced racers, our elegant brindle girl blazed her way right to

the high pt races and earned her first SRC points towards her ISWS

straight racing championship !

Since then, she's earned even more points,

and it's looking as if she has the speed to match her beauty!

Dita's light on her feet, walks herself right into a stack, and has been very

much the polished show dog right from the beginning as you can see from this early

photograph of us show training before Dita's first show outing.

Dita lure coursing in Texas

Dita started her lure coursing career in 2010 at the Silken Windhound Nationals, and wound up being one of the top scoring hounds that day!

Running most of her meets in Texas, she wound up earning her ISWS Fld Ch, and became the #15 top ranked ASFA Silken Windhound for ASFA's first full year running the breed in 2010!

We're hoping she's passed down her winning ways to another generation of Silkens with the birth of her first litter , themed Hot Stuff , and her second litter, sporting the theme of Love , we hope Dita's pups will follow in her tracks in both show and performance!

BIS BISS, ISWS Ch , NAKC Ch, Kumbaya Delta Smoke Signal "Smokey" who is at Delta Windhounds has already had an
