Loki in 2010 at the Silken Windhound Nationals in Hutto Texas Ch Allagante Lunar Talisman SRC X Kristull Talisman of Sheba Photo by Joyce Chin, Talisman Hounds The King of Kumbaya, Loki is a hound of many talents. He is athletic, fun loving , fearless, a happy go lucky show dog, a speedy race and lure coursing hound, and a confirmed swamphound.
This is our favorite pic of Loki doing what he loved to do growing up in California , run in and out of the waves at Ft Funston beach. He was quite a sight to watch burning an amazing amount of energy on those runs. After his beach trips it wasn't unusual for him to sleep for most of the next day or two.
Loki's race win pics for his high placement at the Nationals with Racing Director Mike Leach and Racing Secretary Bobbie Dies. Racing is among our favorite things to do with our dogs. They positively love it , and it's without all the fuss and muss of dog shows. He is very keen on the lure and ran his way into the high point races, and finished in the top few dogs that day, earning SRC points his first time out.
Loki running a race practice He also made a grand showing at the 2008 Silken Windhound Nationals in Colorado racing to high point placement in a field of 38 hounds! Loki finished his Straight Racing Championship in grand style at our Western Regional Specialty Race meet on November 1, 2009!
Loki racing Loki started his lure coursing career in 2010 at the Silken Windhound Nationals at the Silken Windhound ASFA Specialty, and quickly developed a passion for this new sport!

Loki finishes his NAKC Ch at his show debute, and wins Best Puppy in Show Oct 05 We are very proud of Loki's show career as well . At his first series of NAKC dog shows one Saturday in October, at only nine months old, he won several best of breed awards, best in group, and best puppy in show ribbons , and he wound up starting and finishing his NAKCInternational championship that day with three five point majors under noted AKC judges . Since then, he's won several more best of breed awards in some of the largest entries of Silkens at shows in the country.
Show Dog Smile! In January of 08, Loki won three consecutive Best of Breed awards at and two Hound Group 2 awards at IABCA, earing him his IABCA UCICB International Championship!
Loki wins Reserve Winners Dog from the Open Dog Class at the Western Regional Specialty 2008 under AKC Borzoi, Whippet, and Greyhound judge Helen Brettell , Lost Creek Whippets and Borzoi! From the judges commentary by judge Cyndi Dell, Morgandell Borzoi, about Loki: "This well made fellow is one I could take home with me. Good bone, good movement, rib spring and head. A strong and lovely example of the breed."
Loki trots out at the Nationals 2010 He is very typey, has a lovely soft full coat, and is built very soundly , and has beautiful , true, movement. Above all , he has an outgoing winning personality, and loves to show.
Loki and the Garden Around our home Loki is our ever present shadow. On one hand he is well mannered and very easy to live with, While on the other hand he can be a big goofus who loves to lick his lips and play bunny to encourage his Silken housemates to chase him and then wrestle with him.
Dita and Loki in the Pacific Silkens love the companionship of other Silkens. Loki's closest pal is Dita. They frequently pile on each other and fall asleep in this position. Other times they can be found sunning themselves on the deck. t's fascinating to watch him change between his athletic rough house style of play to a gentle, affectionate dog.
Brothers Ronan and Loki growing up on the beach in California Whenever we get together with other Silkens it is fascinating to see the dogs happily recognize each other. Other than the other hounds at Kumbaya, Loki’s other close pals are his brother Ronan and sister Sazi, who frequently joined the Kumbaya Hounds at the beach when they were all growing up in California. Upon Kumbaya's move to Texas, Loki sired his first two litters. One with Dita, the other with Sandy, and the pups can be seen on the LITTERS page!
Sneaky Loki at five weeks When we got him Loki was already named Viking. We lived with that name for a few days but couldn't get used to calling him King or Viking so we picked a name that suited him . Loki, the Norse god of mischief. He lives up to his name.
